Mestre, 8 January 2020 – The Board of Directors of Banca IFIS has named Walter Vecchiato Chief Risk Officer of the Group with effect from 7 January 2020.
Vecchiato will report directly to Chief Executive Officer Luciano Colombini.
Walter Vecchiato, a 50-year-old Venetian native, has gained significant experience in the sector working for major Italian banks in the areas of risk management, corporate finance and lending (Cariplo, Comit and Banca Intesa). He boasts four years of experience as Principal Bank Sector Regulatory Expert at the European Banking Authority responsible for benchmarking analyses on the internal models used for capital requirements for the EU banking sector and in support of the EU-wide Stress Test. He has been Chief Risk Officer of the Cassa Centrale SpA Cooperative Banking Group since 2018.
Holder of an undergraduate degree and Ph.D. from the University of Padua in Statistical Sciences and former Visiting Researcher at the University of California, San Diego (Dept. of Economics), he is the author of numerous scientific publications.
For Banca IFIS, Walter Vecchiato’s appointment represents an enhancement of the Bank’s risk management structure and an important step in the growth process of the Group.
